Get maximum amount of protein from daal

Lentil salad

  • You will need

  • 100 g dry lentils

  • 3 cups water

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 large cucumber, finely diced

  • 1/2 red onion, finely diced

  • 1 medium date 

  • 1 small bunch flat leaf parsley

  • 1 tbsp Lemon Vinaigrette


Recipe 

  • 1. Rinse the lentils and inspect them to remove any bad lentils or debris.

  • 2. In a medium saucepan, add the lentils, water, bay leaf 

  • 3. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce heat to very low, cover the pot and simmer for 16-20 minutes. 

  • 4. The lentils should be soft but not at all mushy.

  • 5. Drain and chill the lentils for a couple of minutes. Add the diced cucumber, red onion, date and parsley

  • 6.Drizzle the lemon vinaigrette on top and toss to combine.

Moth bean sprouts chaat 




Ingredients 

  1. 100g boiled and sprouted moth beans (also known as matki or mat beans) 

  2. One small chopped spring onion, cucumber, carrot and tomato 

  3. 1tbsp green chutney 

  4. 1tbsp tamarind chutney 

  5. 3tbsp pomegranate 

  6. Chaat masala and salt to taste 

  7. Half lemon juice 

  8. Few coriander or mint leaves for garnishing 



Preparation 


step 1) In a mixing bowl take the sprouts add in the chopped veggies and combine together. 


step 2) Now sprinkle chaat masala and salt to taste and then add tamarind and green chutney . Toss everything well. Now garnish with pomegranate and coriander leaves on top. 




  1. Rajma tikki

  2. METHOD

    Rajma – 120

    Potato – 1(80 grams boiled) 

    Besan (chickpea flour) – 1 tbsp

    Bread crumbs – 1 tbsp

    Green chilli – 1

    Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

    Roasted cumin seeds powder – 3/4 tsp

    Garam masala or kitchen king masala – 1 tsp

    Amchoor powder or lemon juice – 1 tsp

    Coriander leaves, finely chopped – 4 tbsp

    Salt – as needed

    Oil or ghee – as needed

    Kidney beans : 120 grams for 4-5 patties

    • Drain kidney beans and discard liquid.

    • Mash kidney beans and potato with a fork.

    • Rinse and chop onions.

    • Mince all spices.

    • Mix all ingredients into a bowl.

    • Now add breadcrumbs and besan, mix well

    • Form into small patties.

    • Add a tbsp oil on a pan on medium heat 

    • Place the patties and cook for about 4 minutes on each side.

    • Drain on a paper hand towel
